Vacation Rentals Almeria .Spain’s premier holiday destination the
Costa de Almeria. Having visited most of the Costa’s on
Spain Mediterranean coast over the past 30 years it was a
pleasant surprise to find Mojacar Playa on the Costa de
Almeria. The resort town of Mojacar Playa is a recent
development and has fortunately not been on the same scale
as the Costa Brava or the Costa del Sol which have suffered
badly from uncontrolled development and corruption. It would
appear that the local authorities have wisely put a limit on
height of domestic residences, so you will not find ant high
rise like the those seen in Benidorm. This makes Mojacar
quiet unique. The resort is very popular with Spanish and
other Europeans alike. The majority of visitors in the
months of July & August (Spain’s official summer holidays)
are Spanish. The beaches are relatively clean and empty
compared to many of the other Costa’s and there are a number
of beach bars serving lunch and diner, which can be very
popular so book your table. The village of Mojacar is about
2km away from the beach and is perched on the foot hills of
the Sierra Cabrera which dominate the local coastline. The
village its self is steeped in history from the Romans to
the Moors have all dominated the area at some point. The
town still remains highly influenced by the Moors which is
evident in its architecture. The views from the towns plaza
are quiet amazing and on a clear day the coast around
Cartegena is visable. Catching the sunset is also
worthwhile. A holiday in Mojacar is very different from
other Costa’s and with its temperate climate a great place
to visit all year round and yet is only two and a half hours
drive from the ski hills of Sierra Nevada and the historic
