Mojacar, Almeria, Spain
For those who have yet to visit the Costa Almeria the most easterly province in the area of Andalucia a pleasant surprise awaits you. The province boasts the highest number of hours of sunshine per year in all of Spain. Partly classified as "Desert" Almeria is also the driest province in Spain. Mojacar is approximately 1 hours drive from Almeria airport (LEI) which is a 10 minute taxi ride from the city. We can provide transfers from Almeria and Murcia airports to Mojacar Playa.

Thanks to tourism, Mojácar Playa has developed into an idyllic resort. Money has been invested in the area and now has its own commercial centre with bars, restaurants, beauty salons, supermarkets and much more. The roads are excellent, with one main street running along a beautiful sandy beach, with Chiringuitos (beach bars) all the way along, it is an excellent place to visit for all the family. With the village (Pueblo) only 2km away (look at description for Mojácar Pueblo for more information on the village), perched on the mountains like a crown on a monarch, overlooking a unique landscape of mountains and pastures as far as the eye can see, falling down to the beautiful coastline, known as Mojácar Playa.

Mojacar Playa & beaches

Mojacar Playa has several kilometers of un spoilt beaches, which even in the height of summer are relatively uncrowded. Only a small number of the beaches have life guards and at present Mojacar has two "Blue Flag" recognized beaches. Due to some recent expenditure the local council has installed four new children's play areas. Some with basket ball courts and football pitch. Playa Cueva del Lobo is one of Mojacar’s more popular beaches. The sand is fine and the sea partly protected by a breakwater, ideal for kids. There are several beach bars and you can hire a canoe, windsurfer or ride the banana. A very short car ride or up hill walk will take you to Playa Macenas which popular with fishermen and divers. If you continue along the dirt road here you pass an old watch tower and onto Playa El Sombrerico, two separate beaches one with a good beach bar (chiringuito). A great place to sit in the sun or cool off in the clear blue sea.
